Our brief was to turn a dark and compact mews townhouse into a light and spacious contemporary two-bedroom retreat from city life. We delivered a full interior refurbishment, totally reconfiguring the ground floor to create a new lounge space, complete with a modern wood burner and adjoining study area. Repositioning the kitchen into a new, contemporary kitchen/diner to overlook the front of the house, we created a utility area in the ground floor cloakroom and a large practical coat/storage room in the hallway. Using a neutral palette throughout to accentuate the sense of light and space, we introduced coloured feature walls to create personality and laid large ceramic tiles throughout the ground floor with underfloor heating to provide a seamless and spacious appearance. New bi-fold doors at the back of the house now fully maximise the benefits of the small but perfectly formed garden. On the first floor the family bathroom and master en-suite were renovated and the bedrooms redecorated.
